This product has been replaced by HD-EXT4-C

The Crestron® HDMI over Shielded Twisted Pair Extender (HD-EXT2-C) delivers professional-grade digital HD AV signal extension for use in a boardroom, classroom, auditorium, or residence. Without any special setup or configuration, the HD-EXT2-C enables wire runs up to 100 meters (330 feet) over a single, low-cost shielded twisted-pair (STP) cable[1]. Adding a second STP or UTP cable[2] enables the extension of a stereo analog audio signal alongside the digital signal, perfect for supporting devices that may not include or support a digital audio channel.

Robust HD Signal Extension
Based on our groundbreaking DigitalMedia 8G technology, Crestron HDMI over STP delivers ultra-reliable extension of uncompressed HDMI signals over any distance up to 100 m (330 ft). Without relying on signal-degrading compression or IP streaming, Crestron HDMI over STP technology transports the full HD signal to your display — intact and uncompromised.

The HD-EXT2-C handles HD video resolutions up to 1080p60, and high-res computer resolutions up to UXGA and WUXGA, with full support for HDCP, 3D, Deep Color, and 7.1 HD audio. It is also compatible with DVI and DisplayPort Multimode sources, and DVI display devices, using appropriate adapters or interface cables[3].

Legacy Audio Device Support
In addition to carrying digital video and audio, the HD-EXT2-C also provides for the extension of an analog audio signal to support DVI devices (and certain HDMI devices) that may not include or support an embedded digital audio channel. Enabling the extension of analog audio simply requires an additional STP or UTP (i.e., CAT5e) cable.[2]

Uncompromised and Uncomplicated
Crestron HDMI over STP affords a very dependable signal extension solution that's simple to implement. No special configuration or programming is required — just connect your source and display and enjoy high-quality HD video and audio from across the room — or the other end of the building.

The HD-EXT2-C is composed of one transmitter and one receiver (HD-TX2-C and HD-RX2-C, both included). The transmitter can be mounted in a single-gang wall box, or attached to any flat surface or inside an equipment rack. The compact receiver can be mounted discretely behind a display device or wherever else it needs to go. Linking the two components requires just one or two runs of inexpensive twisted-pair cable[1,2]. Crestron offers the cable, connectors, and crimp tool for a complete, easy wiring solution. A range of professional AV interface cables and wall plates is also available to complement the HD-EXT2-C for a total custom installation solution.

Description notes:
  1. For the "AV" connection between the HD-TX2-C Transmitter and HD-RX2-C Receiver, use only Crestron DM-CBL-8G or DM-CBL-D cable (sold separately). The maximum cable length is 330 ft (100 m) using DM-CBL-8G, or 200 ft (61 m) using DM-CBL-D. Do not connect the AV IN or AV OUT ports to a DigitalMedia or DigitalMedia 8G network or device, or to any other network or device.
  2. For the "AUDIO" connection between the HD-TX2-C Transmitter and HD-RX2-C Receiver, use dual-twisted pair audio cable or CAT5e shielded or unshielded. Crestron DM-CBL-8G cable is ideal but not mandatory.
  3. HDMI IN requires an appropriate adapter or interface cable to accommodate a DVI or DisplayPort Multimode signal. HDMI OUT requires an appropriate adapter or interface cable to accommodate a DVI signal. CBL-HD-DVI interface cables available separately.
  4. The power pack must be connected to the HD-RX2-C Receiver. Power is passed to the HD-TX2-C Transmitter via the AV IN/OUT connection.
